This high growth has created a middle class in China that is increasingly traveling domestically and internationally. On the other hand high economic growth and foreign direct investment has resulted in increase foreign travelers traffic.
According to the China tourism industry statistics, total inbound foreign traffic has been around 131 million out of which Asian constitute the largest percentage including 16 million from Asia followed by 6 million from Europe and 6 million from Americas. The domestic traffic has increased to 1.6 billion passengers spending on average 16 dollars.
In 2009, the global economy is hit by a recession but China has maintained its growth by announcing a huge stimulus package larger than USA in terms of percentage of GDP. This has resulted in 7.5% economic growth in 2009. This economic activity is expected to translate into higher passenger traffic inside and outside China.
Many airlines have direct flights to China including Eva and China air. These airlines announce special packages for China ticket that has made it economical for people to make frequent trips to China. Chinese American community is also eager to visit their homeland and experience their growth. Reverse migration has also increased.
